Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Our treatment programs combine proven clinical methods with supportive care that fits into your daily life. Whether you need a more intensive schedule or a flexible approach, our goal is to help you regain control and improve your overall well-being.

What Is Alcohol Addiction?

Alcohol addiction is a long-term condition characterized by an inability to control your drinking, increasing tolerance, and the appearance of withdrawal symptoms when alcohol is reduced or stopped. What begins as social drinking can gradually turn into a reliance on alcohol as a way to handle stress or emotional discomfort. Common signs include:

  • Higher Tolerance: Requiring larger amounts of alcohol to achieve the desired effect.
  • Persistent Cravings: Experiencing strong urges to drink and feeling uneasy when alcohol is unavailable.
  • Neglected Responsibilities: Struggling to meet work, family, or personal obligations due to heavy drinking.
  • Strained Relationships: Repeated conflicts or disappointment in relationships because of alcohol use.
  • Unsuccessful Reduction Attempts: Multiple efforts to cut down that do not lead to lasting change.
  • Co-Occurring Mental Health Challenges: Conditions such as depression or anxiety may intensify alcohol use and complicate recovery.

Without treatment, alcohol dependence or addiction can lead to serious health issues, including liver damage, heart problems, and neurological complications, as well as long-term social and financial difficulties. Early treatment helps protect your health and lays the groundwork for a more stable life.

Evidence-Based Alcohol Therapy

In alcohol therapy and treatment at JRV Recovery, we use proven therapeutic methods that help clients understand their relationship with alcohol, manage cravings, and rebuild healthier patterns:

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) is used early and often to help you clarify your reasons for change—supporting you in setting meaningful goals and staying engaged in the recovery process.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you identify the thought patterns and beliefs that drive drinking behavior and teaches you how to challenge and replace them with healthier perspectives.

  • Psychoeducation builds practical understanding around alcohol’s impact on the brain and body, helping you recognize early relapse warning signs and develop stronger coping strategies.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) focuses on increasing emotional control and managing the discomfort or stress that often triggers alcohol use.

  • Mindfulness and stress reduction techniques help reduce impulsive reactions, improve focus, and create a greater sense of calm when faced with challenging emotions or situations.

  • Trauma-informed care ensures that if past experiences play a role in your alcohol use, they’re addressed in a safe, respectful, and supportive way—without overwhelming you in the process.

Each of these evidence-based therapies are selected to support long-term recovery and give you tools that apply far beyond your time in treatment.

Alcohol PHP

Alcohol PHP offers an intensive, day-based program for those who need higher levels of clinical support. In PHP, you participate in several hours of therapy, counseling, and skill-building activities each day, multiple days per week, before returning home in the late afternoon or evening. This format is especially beneficial if you want to maintain a structured schedule after completing  a residential treatment program or you need consistent clinical input to manage intense cravings or emotional challenges while still meeting daily responsibilities.

PHP provides a stable, controlled environment during the day, allowing you to work on recovery skills in a supportive setting and then apply those skills at home.

IOP Alcohol Treatment

IOP alcohol treatment  is designed for those who require consistent therapeutic guidance while accommodating work, school, or family commitments. In IOP, you attend structured sessions—including group therapy, individual counseling, and practical workshops—several times a week, but with fewer total hours compared to PHP. IOP is a solid choice if you are stable enough to benefit from regular treatment without the extensive daily schedule of PHP or if you need ongoing support to maintain progress while balancing external responsibilities.
